[-- Attachment #1 --] Hey, I have just compiled KDE3 from the ports. I recently ran a CVSup so the ports are all up-to-date. I'm running 4.6-PRERELEASE (4.5-STABLE). All of KDE3 compiled/installed just fine (at least, it threw no errors). However, when I startx with exec startkde in my .xinitrc I get the following: DCOPL register 'anonymous-90393' -> number of clients is now 1 DCOPServer up and running. DCOP: unregister 'anonymous-80282' DCOP: register 'kwin-80287' -> number of clients is now 1 KCrash: crashing.... crashRecursionCounter = 2 KCrash: Application Name = kwin path = <unknown> pid = 80287 DCOP: unregister 'kwin-80287' DCOP: register 'kpersonalizer-80288' -> number of clients is now 1 KCrash: crashing.... crashRecursionCounter = 2 KCrash: Application Name = kpersonalizer path = <unknown> pid = 80288 DCOP: unregister 'kpersonalizer-80288' I think the problem is due to DCOP not being set up properly but I do not know enough about it to know why. /tmp/.ICE-unix is 1777 root.wheel. I don't know if that's important. I've tried deleting all ICE/DCOP related files in /tmp and ~ - still the same problem. Won't work as root either - or as a brand new user. This system had 2.2.2 on it a while back, which worked fine. I removed this, however, with pkg_delete -r kdebase\*. Anything I'm missing please tell me as I'm really stuck. Many thanks. -lewiz. -- `Linux is for people who hate Microsoft.
