This is IMHO some kind of accident control, try

 "# sysctl dev.amr.0.allow_volume_configure=1"
 before starting megarc/linux-megamgr. This should enable changes to the RAID 
configuration (replace 0 with 1 ... if you've got more than one 
MegaRAID-Controller in your server).
