Following your suggestion, I looked and didn't see kaudioserver or kwmsound when doing a 'ps -aux'. I tried to start kaudioserver and kwmsound manually and got the following error messages: $ kaudioserver /usr/libexec/ld.so: Undefined symbol "_ftok" called from kaudioserver:/usr/local/lib/libmediatool.so.1.0 at 0x8061104 $ kwmsound PID could not get read. kwmsound: Failed connecting the audio server. Is there some special way I need to start these processes? Is there anything else that needs to be started as well? To the best of my knowledge, I have all of the necessary kde packages installed.
