The PowerPC stuff (for Macs) is regular part of the -CURRENT tree. You can check it out and it should compile. Actually, I do compile it with the simulator. I can't answer your second question. I am currently looking at the OpenFirmware interface. Mark is reworking the pmap module and Benno works on stuff relating to devices and interrupts. I think that there is not much which can be done until there issues have been resolved. However, probably they can tell you more.
