I've recently set up a small intranet server using FreeBSD 3.3 and the FA310TX NIC. I'm having problems with the transfer rate of the data packets coming from my server to my clients (which are also using the FA310TX NIC's), but not between my clients and data packets coming to my server. If I ping one of my client machine's from my server, using a packet size of over 1024 bytes, I get 100% packet loss. Anything >1024 bytes and all of the packets make it through. If I ping one of the clients from a client (one of which is also using FreeBSD) all of the packets transfer properly. I get the same effect with telnet, ftp, and http. I've tried swapping out the NIC & cable with another, & I've tried using a different port on my switch. I am also seeing a few strange messages when I tcpdump pn0. Here is an excerpt: 07:23:42.109049 smith.wildcard.com.domain >morrissey.wildcard.com.ampr-info: 1 ServFail 0/0/0 (37) 07:23:42.110162 morrissey.wildcard.com.ampr-inter >smith.wildcard.com.domain: 2+ (50) 07:23:42.111479 smith.wildcard.com.domain > morrissey.wildcard.com.ampr-inter: 2 NXDomain* 0/1/0 (113) Any ideas what ServFail & NXDomain* mean? I can't find anything in the documentation about it. Thanks, Robert M.
