Actually with Jordans recent change to sysinstall the defaults will have
more free space on / than in the 20MB /var :-)

I hand't used the ``Auto Defaults to All'' recent enough to realize that
a 20MB /var was being created, which is 12MB smaller than any /var we
create here....  

The root partition should be written to except for a few files in /etc,
or at least IMHO.  We should have a /tmp seperate file system, minimal
size 16MB recommend 32MB or more.
