This is an AGP card?  Have you tried setting different AGPModes in 
xorg.conf?  Or even forcing it into PCI mode with the BusType option in 
xorg.conf?

Is the machine still accessible via ssh?  Maybe you could try running 
Xorg in gdb and getting a backtrace when the crash happens.
