camcontrol is a first-order tool.  Not much detail, but it will tell
you whether the array is OK or something other than OK.

# camcontrol inquiry da0
pass0: <COMPAQ RAID 1  VOLUME OK> Fixed Direct Access SCSI-0 device
pass0: 135.168MB/s transfers
