Welcome to the one-true path <grin>.

I'm running 3.1-stable and 2.2.8 here.  Mostly because I haven't had 
time to upgrade.  I would say go with 3.2-release now.  Others will tell 
you more technical stuff about the pros/cons.

Upgrading now will teach you more about the OS.
