After I got it working I noticed pkg_info shows xfree86-4.1.0_12,1, but looking at the ports on the freebsd web site I see xfree86-4.2.0_1,1. No sign of 4.1.0_12,1. This is a new install, not from cd but via ftp from the main freebsd site.
