With apologies for the delay (due to external influences and problems like finding my serial cable), here is the output of boot -v on a newer kernel (compiled Monday morning from a cvsup on Sunday if memory serves). http://sakaki.jamesoff.net/~james/dmesg-broken.txt If anyone has any suggestions of things to try or to check I'd be most grateful; should I just go ahead and file a PR for this? Thanks, James
