I was aware that the Orange Pi Zero had solder pads for an SPI flash. Now I noticed that my Orange Pi PC2 are populated with an MX1606 and newer bought 512MB Orange Pi Zero came with an MX1606 plus the Orange Pi R1 even came with an MX12835. Not just the Orange Pi series, but also my PINE64-LTS has a W25Q128 flash chip. Would it be possible to put u-boot and all the msdosfs content into the NOR flash, so that the SD card contents can be fully ZFS? The point is that we all know how problematic the stability of SD cards can be and a ZFS mirror with card/USB stick would allow perfect protection for that, beside that it doesn't protect early boot code, which is where the NOR flash would be very handy. -- B.Walter <bernd@bwct.de> http://www.bwct.de Modbus/TCP Ethernet I/O Baugruppen, ARM basierte FreeBSD Rechner uvm.
