I take it from this that you can deinstall the port. Have you cleaned
out
the "work" directory by then running "make clean"...?? Then, you should
be
able to install new port.
#make install distclean

Forgot to mention that I have done make clean's (and distcleans) as well
- still same problem.
Very puzzled!
