Hey there, I too had this tragic experience earlier this week. What I did was use /bin/sh, which gave me the mount command, which gave me the vi commmand, which allowed me to place a closing quotation mark on a config option in rc.conf. When I initially tried to recover I used csh too (cause using sh sucks), but for reasons unbeknownst to me I had no access to any usefull commands. I had ed, but the filesystem was mounted read-only and I didn't have the mount command. <shrug> This probably doesn't qualify me for BSD god status <grin>. Hi, Here is the tragic story! When I booted my BSD machine this morning,it said Automatic file system check failed...........help! Enter full pathname of the shell or RETURN for bin/sh I entered /bin/csh (I was not sure tho') Cannot open /et/termcap Using dumb terminal settings. It does not even enter /usr/src..It says no such file or directory.. Good god, save me! Thanks and Regards, shubha ===== ----------------------------------------------------------- Heavy metal made me do it. ----------------------------------------------------------- __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
