Ok...I don't know if you are using NAT (natd) or not but I do know that RFC1918 address cannot talk to public addresses without a Network Address Traslation server/device/service...any regular router will drop packets marked with RFC 1918 address.... Please correct me if I am wrong....but the default router should be your NAT server.
