One way would be to run Samba on the FreeBSD machine. Samba emulates the
network sharing services of Windows NT. Your NT server will see the
FreeBSD box then as another NT server/workstation.

You configure Samba to "share/export" the FreeBSD directories you want to
backup. On the NT or WIN95/98 box, or wherever you have your tape backup,
you map these directories to drive letter(s) and backup through the
network.

You could have a look at www.samba.org for more information. There are a
lot of books about Samba. Being an NT administrator, you should check out
the "Samba black book" from Dominic Baines, published by Coriolis. It has
been written to help administrators with a NT background to understand
Samba.

Samba is available as a binary package on the FreeBSD CDROMS. Installation
is simple. Configuration can be done over the network with an Internet
browser.

If you think Samba could be viable solution, you can always email me
privately (in order to reduce the traffic on this busy list)
