The Xview server package is trying to set up all of the modifier mappings with various sundry keys, one of which is NumLock, all in support of the thoroughly useless mouseless model. If one of those keys happens to be pressed down or toggled on, then the modifier map is busy. So it retries a few times and then gives up. --k
