agreed.
however, this particular machine is an AST server, with ECC capability.

there must be some status register that records these errors.  Otherwise what 
good is ECC?  If it doesn't tell you that something is wrong, then it is useless 
for detection of problems, no?  The information i have found indicates that these
errors are stored in the configuration registers of the memory controllers.
Unfortunately, i have been unable to get confirmation from intel on this subject.
Is there any way to get to these registers from within freebsd?
