You can install 3.3.6 with /stand/sysinstall, and 4.1.0 via ports or packages. X 4.1.0 should have support for those S3 cards, but the support may not be great. Of course, 3.3.6 has certainly had issues with S3 cards that I've seen. If you use 3.3.6, be sure to try both svga and S3 drivers and see what works best. X11R6.6 is the release version of X. The XFree86 projects adds video drivers and other important things for users to the X releases. XFree86 4.1.0 uses X11R6.5.
