For future reference, while upgrading via sysinstall is possible, it's best to use something like freebsd-update, which is included in base. I can't recall off the top of my head if upgrading via sysinstall moves the kernel to kernel.old or not. Good luck with that. You may be best off using livefs and trying to repair with that. -- randi
