Please ignore my previous drivel about the hardcoded tar etc. The fault is the commands I logged by printing all the arguments to exec_catch_errors: /usr/sbin/pkg_info -a /var/tmp/pkg.009638 /usr/sbin/pkg_info -a /var/tmp/pkg.009820 It seems that pkg_info -a simply does not work.
