This time, I've tacked this bugger's ass to the wall. Please ignore my
previous drivel about the hardcoded tar etc.

The fault is the commands I logged by printing all the arguments to
exec_catch_errors:

/usr/sbin/pkg_info	-a	/var/tmp/pkg.009638
/usr/sbin/pkg_info	-a	/var/tmp/pkg.009820

It seems that pkg_info -a simply does not work.
