If you are interested in the network implementation of FreeBSD, you can look at 1 "The Design and Implementation of the 4.4 BSD Operating system", McKusick et al, AW '96 2 "TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 1 and 2 (code)" W R Stevens AW 3 the source code of programs with names like tcp icmp ip in /usr/src/sys of a FreeBSD host with the system source code installed More general works include "Unix Network Programming" by W R Stevens.
