The FreeBSD Ports Collection was frozen until only a couple of hours ago, due to the release of FreeBSD 4.8. Before every release, there is a freeze period when no changes except security fixes are allowed to go into the ports; this is so that the release is shipped with a Ports Collection as free of package building problems as possible, and consequently with as large a package collection as possible. I guess Dirk - and all other port maintainers and committers, as a matter of fact - has been waiting for the end of the ports freeze for all the non-critical port updates.
