I've always had good luck running X -configure and taking the H & V
as well as the chipset values out of the XF86Config.new that is created
and plugging them into old conventional xv86config program. It always
seems to work.

| My suggestion would be:
| i)	Lie about the Hsync/VertRefresh parameters as necessary - they don't
| seem
| to make much difference - although at least one person has reported
| blowing
| a laptop screen, so I wouldn't advise going beserk...
| ii)	Omit the specifications for the "standard" modes, and it'll use the
| built-ins.
| This works fine for 16 bit XGA for me:
| HorizSync 24-80
| VertRefresh 39-80
| Subsection "Display"
| Depth 16
| Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "536x344" "640x480" "320x240"
| "352x240"
| "352x280" "352x288" "536x344"
| ViewPort 0 0
| EndSubsection
| (The "odd" modes are only there for full-screen movie playing)
| ObDisclaimer: It's your screen, not mine. These work for me... :)
| Cheers,
