There are countless resources on the web that can help, many of them
have specific "if you are new to unix" sections.  some of the FreeBSD
specific sites I've found to be most helpful (and still refer to from
time to time) are:

http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/ -- duh!
http://www.freebsddiary.org -- I can't begin to say how helpful this
                                site has been.  Thanks Dan!
