I'm not a BSD kernel guru, but from the other people that responded it seems that the issue is not allowing userland processes to update the routing table with the same subnet if there is a route for that subnet in the UNIX kernel already. You can force the local interface to be in the same subnet with 'ifconfig', but you cannot do it via 'ip adddress' in quagga. Michael F.
