If you're desperate to get it to work, you could just edit the Makefile and remove the code enclosed within: =2Eif defined(WITH_LDAP) and =2Eendif and that'll sort the problem. I can't stress enough that this isn't the way to do it and you should maybe consider tracking down why it's not compiling as expected. An alternate solution might just be to use samba-devel, which is currently beta but I understand it's already very stable and usable. If it's production though, I'd still be wary of this route.
