It appears the the URL is incorrect.  I found samba at 
ftp://samba.anu.edu.au/pub/pub/samba/ but I dont know if it's what you 
want.  I just know it's not at the URL you quoted.

Yes, but from what I understand, the port will still go out and retrieve 
the latest & greatest.  I think.

BTW: it's no help to you now, but I plan to install SAMBA myself and add 
the instructions to The FreeBSD Diary.  If anyone has other suggested 
entries, please let me know.
