I've found here a lot of good ideas and questions. And now I would like to ask one questions. I run FreeBSD 3.2 as my cache machine (squid-2.3.stable3.1). (512 RAM and 2x9GB SCSI disk). In squid list I've read that the performance of FreeBSD and squid to be good, especially with "noatime" options. I put "noatime" options in my fstab and it looks like: # Device Mountpoint FStype Options Dump Pass# /dev/da0s1a / ufs rw 1 1 /dev/da0s1g /export/disk1 ufs rw,noatime 2 2 /dev/da0s1f /usr/local ufs rw 2 2 /dev/da0s1e /var ufs rw 2 2 /dev/da1s1e /export/disk2 ufs rw,noatime 2 2 /export/disk1 and /export/disk2 is used for cache But I still get warning in my log files such as: Apr 13 12:19:54 aitra /kernel: /export/disk2: optimization changed from SPACE to TIME Apr 13 16:33:52 aitra /kernel: /export/disk2: optimization changed from TIME to SPACE I am not FreeBSD gurus but I feel that something is not working correct. What do I miss? Or What do i need to change.
