For a drop-in replacement for freebsd's ports system: I believe that netbsd's pkgsrc works on 4.x, albeit with plenty of caveation. http://netbsd.org/docs/software/packages.html seems to indicate that they still provide binaries for 3.5 and 4.7! -- --
