I don't know if the FreeBSD boot manager will handle a dangerously dedicated drive. Most likely not. That is why they call it dangerously dedicated. Try putting WIN95 and FreeBSD on the 3.1 and then see if you can boot wd1s1. Actually wd(1,a)kernel. Doesn't seem like a large effort to do this.
