I'm having problems compiling the kernel whenever i enable that option in the config. Says that code is missed. What would be the cause of that? Look at the boot messages; was it detected? Possibly it is working, but the volume is too low. Try running '/usr/sbin/mixer vol 50 pcm 50 cd 50' and seeing whether you can hear it now. Adjust the numbers to your liking and stick the proper combination into /etc/rc.local so it will run on boot-up.
