I just subscribed to freebsd-fs since this topic is interesting to me 
(and something I'd like to help on, having been the person to bring up 
LFS in the first place).  I suggest we take any further conversations on 
LFS, Portals, or even msdosfs (and the guy who's working on vfatfs) to 
that mailing list.  Thanks!
