While I have no doubt that this would be useful, this isn't the problem at hand. The problem has to do with what X11 to build and how to encode dependencies into packages. I want to have a slight variation on XFree86 3.3.6 via a slave port. I'm not looking to abstract things out at such a high level. The stuff I need would break if 4.x was installed, for example.
