well, for your uses, you aren't..but, for guys like me, who do
heavy-duty audio work, freebsd *is* lacking. i use it as my main
desktop, but if i want to do much electronic music work, i have to
switch over to windows for it. spiralsynth, audacity, etc are great
programs, but there's a serious lack of apps like native instruments
reaktor (a fully-patchable, virtual modular synth) or absynth, or even
step-sequencers like fruityloops.

someone will probably jump up here and say, "yeah, but there's dap and
ecasound and etc!" sorry, that doesn't cover all my bases..

i'm hoping to write some stuff down the road, but i'm just barely
getting started programming.. it's going to be a long while before
anything substantial shows up from my end. i just hope there are a few
other people lurking around here with an interest in that sort of thing.
maybe a couple ports of linux audio stuff will happen, or better yet,
some native freebsd audio software. i'd love to see a step-sequencer
that supports little more than ladspa plugins and .wav/.ogg/.mp3
formats, and has it's "features" as individual channel ADSR,
oscillators, and filters. load up some plugs, about a dozen samples,
and spiralsynth, and you could do some very cool stuff.

err..i think i got off my point here. sorry :p

- erik, wondering if any other freebsd users want to be able to use it for electronic music.
