Very nice Johnathan!  All the docs I saw said to put the config in /etc.
I just linked it into /etc/X11/ and ran xdm -nodaemon.

Problem solved.

I _am_ still seeing a little bit of the 'crawling pixel' syndrome, but
it is _MUCH_ better overall!

I will take a look at some other docs and try a couple things, but I
can at least get back to work now.
