I have just tried the latest freebsd/amd64 driver from nvidia's web
site, it is the same version you suggest
(NVIDIA-FreeBSD-x86_64-270.41.06.tar), and I get hard lockups on x.org
startup while still in text mode, so I had to revert to the ports
version.
