https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D237413 Bug ID: 237413 Summary: Deprecate x11/xsel in favor of xsel-conrad Product: Ports & Packages Version: Latest Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: Individual Port(s) Assignee: ports-bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: tobik@freebsd.org CC: portmaster@bsdforge.com CC: portmaster@bsdforge.com Flags: maintainer-feedback?(portmaster@bsdforge.com) Attachment #203824 maintainer-approval?(portmaster@bsdforge.com) Flags: Created attachment 203824 --> https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=3D203824&action= =3Dedit xsel.diff Most Linux distributions provide a xsel package which we package as xsel-conrad [1]. The different package name between systems. is a big POLA violation. xsel-conrad has a lot more features, is more popular, and kind of expected to _be_ xsel at this point in time. I propose that we either deprecate and remove this port in favor of xsel-conrad which we can then rename to xsel. Or rename this port to x11/xsel-legacy to avoid future confusion.
