I can't tell you why it matters, but I can say that it does make a signific=
ant
difference.

(disable TXCSUM).

Also, see the ipfw(8) man page in the BUGS section:

"Due to the architecture of libalias(3), ipfw nat is not compatible with the
TCP segmentation offloading (TSO).  Thus, to reliably nat network traffic,
please disable TSO on your NICs using ifconfig(8)."
