That's on purpose as there are no FreeBSD 6 binaries, yet, i.e.
binaries that are linked against libc.so.6. It's also not possible
(ports-wise) to use the FreeBSD 5 binaries on -current as those are
linked against libc.so.5 and there's no compat5x port, yet. So
unless one wants to make the users take care of manually installing
a libc.so.5 there's no other choice as to use the FreeBSD 4 binaries
on -current.
AFAIKT the FreeBSD 4 binaries are also not older but built from the
same sources as the FreeBSD 5 ones, at least the version strings
are identical.
