It would be the driver's responsibility to save what it can on SLEEP,
and rebuild what it couldn't on WAKE. If the driver is simply incapable
for some reason, either always or at specific times, it should fail on
SLEEP, effectively disabling hybernation on any setup with it
(shoganai).
