Since I talk to these guys (Dev and Hannu) a fair bit, and in
significant detail, perhaps I can help clarify their current position:

1. They wish to focus purely on the commercial product for now,
and any pushing on the "free" side of their product line isn't
really going to net good results (I've already tried and been told
that it's in the works but NOT for at least 6 months and this time-
table is very firm). Given that the commercial product is only
$20, I don't see this as a hugely big deal (and you get free lifetime
   updates - such a deal!).

2. What Hannu needs right now more than anything (and he's asked directly
in -hackers) is for people to help him test the current OSS demo which
I stuck in 2.2.1's commerce distribution. It has been hanging a few
core folk machines, but apparently all most of us have time to say
is "it crashes my machine!" and Hannu is sort of frustrated at the
   lack of reproducible details. ;-)

3. If we want to continue to improve the current driver, and I've
talked with the 4front folks about our short-term needs, all they
ask is that we stay API compatible. Again, the web page at
   http://www.4front-tech.com/pguide/sndcrd.html contains all the relevant
details and should be a good reference.
