That's what that first question meant, and it's the only correct thing to do. The system then installs a time zone file for your local time zone. The alternative is a kludge to make life easier with systems which don't have any concept of time zones. It involves the use of the adjkerntz(8) program via /etc/crontab: # time zone change adjustment for wall cmos clock, # does nothing if you have UTC cmos clock. # See adjkerntz(8) for details. # 1,31 0-5 * * * root adjkerntz -a This gets activated by uncommenting the last line (remove the initial "# ". I suspect something has gone wrong with your crontab entry.
