When I telnet into my local FreeBSD-stable box from a DOS box running NCSA telnet 2408b, I get erratic telnet mode settings (echo and block mode). When I telnet into local non-FreeBSD boxes or non-local FreeBSD-stable boxes, the problem doesn't manifest. I even grabbed the telnet daemon from one of the remote FreeBSD-stable boxes to be sure I didn't just have a broken telnet daemon, and it didn't help. Is this seems pretty odd, and it is quite annoying to have to make three or four attempts to establish a telnet session. It seems like the echo and block bits are just random, with about a 50/50 chance on each, so only about 1/4 of my attempts come up the way I want...
