IMO the appropriate approach is to just switch off maintainership to ports@FreeBSD.org if KDE team can't maintain those ports, especialy considering that you have deleted not only ports maintained by kde@FreeBSD.org, but other people as well, thus you have voided all efforts people have put into those ports. It is inappropriate to think that the KDE team has a power to remove other peoples' work just because it "controls" kde/qt stuff and doesn't have a manpower to maintain old qt1/kde1 stuff. In a short: please backout the deletion and just reset maintainership to ports@FreeBSD.org.
