I have used top -s 0.1 in order to see if I can get a glimpse at something which might run, but nothing is started. And as mentioned in the previous mail, nothing is happening in messages or daemon.log. I am beginning to suspect that it's the ZFS kernel process thingy something which is doing this? I do not want this drive to keep spinning up every 5 minutes. What has changed from 14.3 to 15 that might cause this annoying behavior?
