I am currently running 2.1.7 and would like to install some of the newer updated ports and packages that are available in 2.2.2 and current. Is this possible are there any compatibility issues? I would like to run the new version of samba v1.9.16p11 which has support for WINS. The 2.1.7 port and package is using samba v1.9.15p8 only.
