I replaced the card with a brand new Adaptec 2940 Ultra Wide (Just to ensure that it wasn't the card) then I I installed Linux. It detected the card and all of the drives without a hitch. The following is a copy of the error and screen ----------- avail memory = 28905472 (28228K bytes) Probing for devices on PCI bus 0: chip0 <Intel 82437VX PCI cache memory controller> rev 2 on pci0:0 chip1 <Intel 82371SB PCI-ISA bridge> rev 1 on pci0:7:0 chip2 <Intel 82371SB IDE interface> rev 0 on PCI0:7:1 ahc0 <Adaptec 2940 Ultra SCSI host adapter> rev 1 int a irq 11 on pci0:10 ahc0: Using left over BIOS settings ahc0: aic7880 Wide Channel, SCSI Id=7, 16 SCBs ahc0: waiting for scsi devices to settle ahc0: board is not responding (ahc0:0:0): SCB 0x0 - times out while idle, LASTPHASE == 0x1, SCSISIGI == 0x0 SEQADDR=0x15f SCSISEQ = 0x12 SSTAT0 = 0x4 SSTAT1 = 0x0 (ahc0:0:0): Queueing an Abort SCB ahc0: board is not responding cmd fail (ahc0:0:0): SCB 0x1 timedout while recovery in process (ahc0:0:0): "unknown unknown ????" type 13 fixed SCSI 0 uk0(ahc0:0:0) Unknown ahc0: board is not responding (ahc0:0:1) SCB 0x2 timedout while recovery in process ahc0: board is not responding cmd fail (ahc0:0:1): SCB 0x3 timedout while recovery in process (ahc0:0:1): "unknown unknown ????" type 13 fixed SCSI 0 uk1(ahc0:0:1): Unknown ------------------------- And so on for all 16 scsi devices. I am begining to think perhaps it is something that I am doing (or not doing.) If you can provide any additional direction it would be appriciated.
