I've installed Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory recently, and on advice of some players, I installed TeamSpeak too. Both are Linux-binaries (since they are closed source) and working fine with linux-base-8.8. They are both installed from ports (so the binaries reside in /usr/local and /usr/X11R6 rather than /usr/compat/linux). The fun of TeamSpeak is speaking with eachother. Part of the fun of ET is hearing the enemy coming / shooting etc. So ideally I want both to produce sound at the same time. Many FreeBSD-binaries do this (KDE soundsystem + XMMS for example) and it is no problem to add one of those progs to the que. However, both at the same time does not work. /dev/dsp is then listed as in-use. AFAIK, Linux binaries work almost like FreeBSD binaries on the same system, only there is a linux kernel in the FreeBSD kernel. I imagine that it should be that much of a hassle to let the linux progs behave the same, regarding to devices. So: is there a solution, and if yes: what is it? I'm not on the list. A CC would be appreciated :) Thanks, regards, Fi-Ji -- Frans-Jan v. Steenbeek Pakhuisweg 16-II NL-6718XJ Ede the Netherlands T: 0318 516714 06-43536482 E: frans-jan@van-steenbeek.net
